- Does Cracker Barrel Have Healing Powers? -

The week ended on a bit of a rough note. Not really rough, just kind of depressing. I didn’t get to fly on Friday (second day in a row), so I was bummed. Partially because I feel like that’s the whole reason that I’m out here, and mainly because my wife, family, and life is two thousand miles away. On top of that, I tried calling half the people in my phone book and no one was around.

Oh well. I gave up the phone tag because it was time for dinner and the company was paying. We ended up sticking with the cheap route and going to Cracker Barrel. The familiarity hit me as we walked in and I began to feel at home. We walked by the checkers board and fire place as we were being seated and I can feel the depression and sadness starting to melt away. By the time dinner arrived, I’ve played a few games of that infuriating golf tee game (by the way, I’m purtee smart!), and am feeling like maybe I can handle one more week.

So I ask you again, have I found the newest “cure all”? Or perhaps a new best seller, “Cracker Barrel for the Soul.” Or maybe I just enjoy a good, old fashioned, home cooked meal.

P.S. I got the chicken-fried chicken with fried okra, hash brown casserole, and dumplings – what’s your favorite?
